Kelso Escapes

Explore Kelso and the surrounding area from Kelso Escapes.  Stay in one of three contemporary cottages at Plum Braes Barn and enjoy a great variety of walks on your doorstep.  Relax in Eden Holiday Hideaways, with three hideaways to choose from, Orchard, Eden and Tweed each with their own private outdoor wood-fired hot tub.

Through all seasons, you can watch the weather play over the Cheviot hills on the southern horizon. Set on an organic farm, nature comes calling. Hares lop through the fence, small birds chatter in the sunflowers, barn owls float by on the hunt, and colourful butterflies and wildflowers dance on your doorstep. The farm invites you outside. Walk along the meandering Eden Water, over the wooden bridge and on to the River Tweed if you fancy a longer stretch of legs, or instead, loop back along a treelined avenue for a game of tennis on the all-weather surface nearby. This might sound too energetic; sunbathing on the decking with a book or bobbing in the hot tub at Orchard Hideaway with a cool refreshment involve minimal effort and give you a feast for the eyes as you settle in to enjoy the surrounding landscape.

During July, August and September we have a spectacular flower field on the farm. With cut your own flowers, activities and a lovely walk around the flowers. The ‘Field of a Million Suns’ is a highlight, with sunflowers and other flowers blooming.

Discover the Hideaways

Eden Holiday Hideaways presents three beautiful, detached eco-lodges with Scandinavian inspired contemporary design and luxurious attention to detail. Each hygge, hidden gem is set apart providing a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere with a wood-fired hot tub, decking and a panoramic 180° view over the rolling Borders countryside to the Cheviot hills on the horizon. Each hideaway brings the outside to the inside with the end to end wall of glass. Orchard Hideaway is beside the wood, Eden Hideaway is in the middle and Tweed Hideaway at the top of the meadow.

The bright and spacious king size bedroom has an extremely comfortable bed with crisp, Egyptian linens. You can unpack into upcycled quirky furniture, and then relax on the huge armchair. Enormous windows maximise the view; wearing white cotton robes, wander along the wooden decking and smooth stone pathway to your own woodfired hot tub to help you relax at any time of day or night. There is an outdoor shower too, and tables and chairs for dining outside in the meadow surrounding the hideaway.

There is a small second bedroom with comfortable twin beds, quirky linen, underbed storage drawers and of course full-size windows bringing the views to you.

The living space has a comfy corner sofa and large foot rest giving a relaxing place to settle in front of the wall-mounted TV (access to Netflix / prime / iPlayer etc provided) - for cosy nights in on rainy days. The sleek, easy-to-light log burner is a central feature and provides a lovely heat which warms the well-insulated space very quickly. There is a dining table and chairs inside, and outside for fair weather. The well-equipped kitchen provides a compact space to prepare meals and serve them on smart crockery. There is a large fridge/freezer and a quiet dishwasher, as well as a microwave, electric oven and hob. If cooking is too much, you can order locally made ready meals for the freezer to use as and when you please, or explore Kelso, only a couple of miles away, with a variety of takeaways and restaurants. Little details stand out: a coffee grinder and beans are provided so you can use the Italian coffee maker to make yourselves a fantastic coffee.

The shower room has a gorgeous rain effect shower and is tiled with travertine bringing a luxury spa feel. The gorgeous-smelling shampoo and shower gel complete this effect, along with the heated floors and towel rails.

Each hideaway provides all you need for a relaxing, luxurious, spacious retreat from the world. You can tuck yourselves in cosily for some R&R or adventure out into the farm and wider world – whatever suits you, in whatever weather arrives. Logs, towels, Italian toiletries and bed linen included. Hot tubs are heated for your arrival.

Please note the Hideaways don't accept dogs however Plum Braes Barn do.
